It depends on what its going into. For example, there aren't any knock sensors there.

Burnin Red,
Any chance this car is in KC so I could look at it with/for you?? What is the seller advertising this as?

Observations:
- Lets say it's a 2002 Z06
- Those aren't LS6 heads, that's not a LS6 valley cover (as mentioned above no knock sensors.) What's been done with the motor? Is this an LS2/LS3?
- Where's the top of the motor?
- He's running the green stuff for coolant
- The top radiator hose doesn't look like it's on all the way??? wth?
- aftermarket plug wires
- cut out radiator shroud - that's a first for me...
- Don't tell me that's the AC accumulator out there at the side of the motor??

So you need to figure out:
- Is it an LS6 motor? What heads are on it, cam etc.
- the valley cover and where the knock sensors were moved to.
- Intake/gasket + map sensor
- Injectors
- A.I.R. plumbing??????? Was it removed?
- tb/gasket
- Hose from tb to valley cover
- Air couplers, MAF, Air intake
- I assume the fuel rail is okay laying to the side
- There are two sensors at the back of the block just beyond the valley cover: cam position sensor and the other is the coolant temp I think. Make sure they are both there. Coolant temp is a pita to remove later so you may want to just install a new one if the car has 40k miles or more.

- Due to the hack job on the radiator shroud and the AC accumulator location I would seriously wonder what else has been hacked up or duct taped.

Paul.

A magnacharger wouldn't require new heads but perhaps the owner upgraded....
You would need to get the head and block casting numbers to figure out what you've got there. It's not what they think it is.

Here is what a genuine 2002 LS6 motor looks like (it's mine). Notice the area between the intake ports where the head bolts are compared to your photos above.

do you think they are after market heads?
from my experience a car like this one owner with only 20k miles may have a ton of money into it you never know?

If you get it for a good price, that would be awesome! It would be easy to get running! I never liked working on my T/A s and Camaro s, like i do these Vettes! (you got me feeling like its mine....almost)

Buying that car, in that condition, it better be a damn good price. Way too many unknowns with that thing. Looking at a couple grand to get an engine running that might not be any good, and who knows what else can be wrong.

And from what I see, that car didn't have a magncharger or any other SC on it. The fuel rails are still OE with the crossover that fits in the groover in the manifold, and they only fit a OE or other OE style aftermarket manifold.

I spy a LS2 block.... Anyone Digg?? Youll be getting a 6.0L at the minimum.. It also could be stroked out depending on the kit and overbore it could bt a 408, 416 424

If youll look close youll see theres a real thick aftermarket radiator in there, Stock is thin. It also has wires running to the front for some electric frans probally.

That shroud was cut most likely for fatter pipeing instead of an air bridge and make it clear the hood. Its not a big deal.

The sock over the catch can is not a big deal, That keeps oil mist from spraying everywhere..

I think someone might have had some expensive manifold on it and took it off and sold it seperate...

Good point, makes sense as far as the heads go, the heads are the LS2 design.

The LS2 didn't use that fuel rail though.

I would also pull the heads before reassembling the top end. Imagine a washer or nut in a cylinder at start up?

true, But if it was swapped in they would have kept the Stock fuel system intact, and probally used a Fast 90 setup, Where that rail would need to be used without the converstion kit for the LS2 rail. The fast 90 was designed for the LS1 rail initally.

That shroud was probally cut for some intake.. You could leave it be or simply replace it, its not hard to do 4 little botls.

so what kind of intake do you think would have to be put on the car for it all to hook up correctly?
