Has anyone replaced there door hinges on there C5? The drivers side door has a nasty catch in the pin when I close the door.
The big things I need to know is:
Hinge part numbers (top and bottom)?
Where to buy them
&
Are their blind nuts on the back side of the door and frame or will I need access to the nuts? If so how do you gain access to the back side of the frame? It would be a good thing to know before breaking out the wrenches.
I have an inoperable horn on my C5, anyone else have or have had the same thing?
Via a GM diagnosis my broken horn is caused by a broken “cancel cam” it was described as a $10 part that has allows an electric circuit to be made from the rotating steering wheel to the stationary column (kind of like a record player and pickup) that they want $300 to fix!
Has anyone ever switched out a cancel cam on a C5? If so what all is evolved?
When repairing my daytime running light I got a good look at the horn and cable that goes to ground and that all looks in good order.
Any C5 drivers experienced an electronic door lock that will unlock thru the switch on the door and the fob but have intermittent issues locking via the switch or fob?

Just contact Gene or local chevy dealer for hinges.
Not hard at all to remove and replace.. be careful with door
and painted surfaces and close mating areas.
You will spend lots of time getting the alignment "just right"
Just take your time and be carefull
They are just bolted into the car from the outside of the hinge..
what you see is what you get!
I can tell you from putting on a lambo door kit on my C5 that if you don't mind pulling the front fender off, the hinges would be EASY to swap and very easy to adjust.
They're right there and easy to just swap one at a time and just leave the door bolted on.

Yes, my 02 has that problem. Will look in to it this winter. Just a minor annoyance now.
I've never needed to replace worn door hinges on the C5 but have on several other Vettes and many other GM models. But by just replacing the hinge pins and brass bushings ( with the door inplace ) has produced like new results for a fraction of the cost and time.
