my car wants to spudder and try to shut off whenever it wants, and yesterday i noticed the pcv valve hose was dry rotted in two right by the valve, could this be what was causing my car to run like crap?
Essentially, you have a vacuum leak. That could make your idle run high, but would also make your engine stutter when you accelerate. Blowby oil escaping past the split hose could make its way down to the pan. You can replace the hose with 3/8-inch (inside diameter) fuel line hose; it's very inexpensive at most auto stores.
You need to fix both. The tube connection for the PCV valve can be easily replaced with some 3/8 inch fuel line tubing. If your oil pressure sender is leaking oil out through the connector, time for a new one.

Don't wait too long on the pressure sensor either, if it's leaking now, replace it soon.
I had one BLOW on another GM car, and lost all the oil in a very short time. Luckily, the fuel pump shut down with the loss of oil pressure, and saved the engine from damage.

I thought the pressure sensor is threaded. How can it "blow" out unless it is very loose?

Dave, It failed internally causing the oil to leak out at the sensor electrical connector. The lower metal threaded part of the sensor was still tight in the engine block.
black99 just made me realize that i had an "open" pcv system.(a few days ago) I put one in and it no longer stumbles like it used to! I attributed it to the cam being too big, but its smooth as silk now!! I LOVE driving it now!! Thanks black99!!- Jason
