Well, I followed the Service Manual procedure for removing the wiper arms to send to flasunshine1 for the CF treatment. Unfortunately the manual procedure assumes you are removing and replacing the arm immediately before the car is driven. Like a dummy I followed the procedure and marked the wiper positions on the windshield only to have the motor park itself once I started the car (Duh!).
So, now that the wiper motor is parked, are there any tips for reinstalling the arms in the proper position so they do not crash into each other?
THe only real tip that I can recommend (and I say this because it worked for me numerous times) is to try "guessing", and put the wiper arm onto the shaft lightly. Then, while holding the base with one hand, use the other hand to lay the wiper down against the glass and see how it lies. If it appears to be in the right place, then push the wiper on all the way. Repeat with the other. If the alignment doens't look right, remove the wiper, reposition one or two ticks away and try again. I found it wasn't too hard to line up at all and usually succeed on the first try. Hope that helps!

I guess that is my only option - thought there was maybe some "trick" to positioning these in the parked position.
Set your delay on, when the arms or motor is at the "innerwipe position" turn the key off then install your arms where your marks are... Assumig you followed the manual and marked the windshield at that location...
When you set your wipers to the Delay function, the blades park slightly higher up the windshield... That's the Innerwipe position.
Turn your key off when you see they are parked there, pull your linkage off the top of the motor;
then reinstall the linkage onto the motor to these specs;
No guessing this way...

You, sir, are a steely-eyed missile man! I've been working on this for 3 hours! No matter what I tried, the intermittent was all fugged up. I was about to take a hammer to it when I found this post. It's perfect now! YOU ROCK! Thank you very very much. My wife thanks you. My kid thanks you. Because of you, I won't go on a murderous rampage, so my neighbors thank you.

You're welcome! And I'm glad you didn't waste any ammo on neighbors, they don't taste good anyway!
I think this picture will speak 1000 words. I had the same problem all of you were having. After hours of experimenting, I found that this picture shows EXACTLY how the motor should be positioned in "PARK". My blades park correctly in intermitten, and park correctly when shut off now.
Just make sure that you position the motor like this before put your blades on.
*Notice that the little **** in not sitting in the hole on the top piece.* There are 2 pieces that rotate.

hopefully i will get around to fixing that this afternoon, got to change a bulb in the front end and hopefully this week get a repair kit for my other headlight. why did they put cheap plastic gears in those darn things? Took me a while to get the first headlight repaired, the 2nd one will come out in record time.

just replaced one of them with the brass gear. actually its an easy job, the hard part is getting to the bolts/nuts to remove the headlight assembly. I am going to replace the other one this week and I bet i can have it changed out in less than an hour
