Engine Bay Light Upgrade?
My engine bay light does not have a switch on it to turn it on and off which is extremely annoying. When I want it to turn off, it stays on for 5 minutes. When I want it to stay on it only stays on for 5 minutes. Does anyone know where, or even if this light can be changed out to one that is switchable?

Show me one and I will order it now.
Thanks in advance.
There have been remarkable advances in battery technology over the past few years....here's what I use:
Quite amazing actually. It's portable, and enables one to actually focus the beam of light anywhere one chooses.
Oh, I forgot.....it does have an "on/off" switch...
The best way IMO to do what you're looking for is to build a entirely new circuit. I'd suggest LED floodlights or Cathodes but mounting them will be the challange. You can run 20ga speaker wire for power and ground under the hoodliner and into the engine bay with the same wire loom as the OEM harness.
Mid America for certain and I think Ecklers also sell a wire harness to the underhood light that replaces the OEM one and has an off/on switch incorporated into it. Expect to pay the Corvette tax to get yours.
They do have them, kind of pricey. $33.99
I just bought a rounded rocker switch at Radio Shack and jumped in the circuit. I put the switch on the vertical part of the fan shroud facing front.

Can't see clearly but is that an LED model? I upgraded my light like that to a 3 watt LED and NiMh rechargeable batteries. Doubles as a tire checker and billy club. And Yes it is red anodized to match the car. One of the best mods I've done.
I took my OEM light out ( replaced the space with a SST plate that has a small hook) and installed a remote light from a '99 GMC 454 Suburban. Its manualy switched on or off and the light itself is on a reel ( about 6 ' long). I mounted it to the right side engine bay ( the OEM harness reaches it easily). When I want a work light , simply turn it on and unreel the light or hang it up on the hook in the OEM location. [IMG][/IMG]
If you use an in line switch for the OEM light , please use a marine application switch.
