Default Flowmaster Exhaust / drone?

I have a friend trying to sell me a Flowmaster system for my newly acquired 2001 6spd. I was looking at the Corsa system because they seem to be the only system that doesn’t have the terrible drone at cruising speeds. I can get a killer deal on the Flowmaster system but I will regret it if it’s drumming away while I am cruising in sixth. So Flowmaster or stick with Corsa, any other recommendations?

I'd give it a try,,If you don't like it (and if the price is low) you can probably sell it for a profit!! Then you can get the Corsa!!

I currently have a flowmaster exhaust on my C5. It has a nice mellow rumble at idle and a nice scream at wot. Driving down the highway it is very quiet, it does have a little drown, but for the money by far the best exhaust. These flowmaster exhaust systems are not loud like the flowmaster exhaust systems on F-Bodies & Mustangs. It is also stainless steel.

Take a look at GHL systems. I installed a set on my 98 after they were reccommended by the local Corvette Shop. Nice sound, very quiet at hi-way speed. They are made very well and are cheaper than the competition.

Good luck.

I thought the Flowmaster exhaust was NOT stainless steel, are you sure?

I went to their web page. Only the tips are stainless steel. The mufflers and pipes are aluminatized steel. Note that even the stock C5 muffler is stainless steel.

Maybe I'm getting deaf as I get older but I have Bullets on my 02 coupe and in 6th gear at 70-75 mph on the highway I can barely hear them. I have had Bullets on 3 Vettes and don't find them offensive at all. I would think the Flowmasters aren't as loud. I have them on my p/u truck and love them. But that's a different animal.

Good Lord, Cape; you must be getting deaf - HeHe.
My nephew has bullets on his all-stock '04 convertible, and they literally rattle your teeth on the highway. The resonance is so bad all the screws on the dash loosen up. I can hear him coming from two miles away, and I won't let him get above 1000 rpm in the neighborhood. But they sure do intimidate the Mustangs.

Just curious, do you plan on ever adding a set of headers? My 2000 m6 had flo master when I purchased it. I liked the sound even though it had a little gurgle but not that bad. I added a set of kooks headers. That was a mistake. It pops terrible on decel. I am looking at replacing the flo master asap.

Remember these cars sit at like 1600 rpm's on the highway. They shouldn't drone too bad. BTW I have B&B Bullets, Catted x-pipe, and longtubes with no highway drone.

I have Flowmasters on my 2001 Coupe, been on there since a year or so after it was new. I've had it 3 years now, no problems. Nice rumble at idle and around town, no drone at highway speeds either. They sound MUCH better than stock but not too loud at all. Not sure what they sound like outside the car at WOT but inside they are GREAT!
I should get someone to video me as I pass by at WOT around 100MPH or so.....
Save the wave....
