Add an underdrive pulley (9rwhp) and some higher ratio rockers (9rwhp)
That would get you there without going through major surgery, aside from pulling the steering rack (45minutes) to change the pulley.
I recommend Crane cams quick lift 1.8 rockers.... it's aggressive over the nose and is more like 1.9 until later in travel it evens out to a true 1.8..... it requires special pushrods (included with the kit)

The best mods I have done for my car were the 3qt accu-sump with oil cooler and the transmission cooler.
a great tune, LTs off road Exahaust, CAI bump the rev limiter to 6750. UD pully. Change the oil every two weekends on the track ( test the oil too ) change trans and diff fluids every four weekends
24,000 hard 3000 to redline track miles latter she keeps on running.
did change plugs, wires, injectors too.
