The pump in the LS1 and 6 engine has two shaft seals. Between the inner and outer seal is a weep hole. If you get a little water coming from the water pump, it may be that one of the seals has failed, and the weep hole is doing it's job and telling you by dripping a bit of water on the garage floor. I researched it, and that's the time to replace the pump. It's an easy swap out as far as I remember. Be sure and get some new gaskets too before you bolt it all back up.

Okay, I said I would add a few pics of my radiator leak checker. I made this a few years ago so I could pressure bleed my brakes on my 70. It worked real good for that so I thought I might be able to adapt it to the Z06 radiator. Here are a few pics of the bleeder and cap.

Default 180,000 when water pump was replaced

Hi,
My 1998 C5 daily driver in New Jersey had 180,000 miles on it when the water pump began to leak. Had my local mechanic replace it with a rebuilt one and the total cost was $500. Had to replace the starter at 178,000 miles and it cost me $500 including labor as well.
