So I am thinking of putting in the Centerforce Dual Friction clutch kit. What is the difference between 11" kit and the 12" kit. What are the advantages of both? Do I need to upgrade the stock LS6 flywheel? I have heard of everyone replacing the slave when changing the clutch, but why does everyone not replace the master as well. When putting in this new clutch do I need new pilot bearings and alignment tool, correct? I can order all of this stuff except the clutch from Gene, right? Sorry for all the questions, but I want to get my sticky clutch pedal fixed before I start adding power adders.

Have you looked at Centerforce's website? The two clutches listed for a C5 are marked: 11 inch, OEM and 12 inch, High Boost Forced Induction/Nitrous. Might as well buy the balanced assembly from centerforce, so yes on the flywheel. Some replace the master, some don't. All depends on how you drive the car. In any case, it's a good time to do it. Change the pilot bearing and slave. An alignment tool should come with the clutch assembly. Yes, you can order the pilot bearing and slave from Gene.
What does everyone think of the centerforce? I haven't found a bad review in any of the searches on the forum i've done. Do some believe that the textrelia with the X compound be better? With headers, intake, tune, and running about 385 to 400 rwhp would I want the 11" or the 12"? Also what is the difference going with aluminum vs. steel flywheel. I know that the aluminum is lighter so that means faster revs, but doesn't that mean faster drop in rpm to at the strip. So for street driveability would the steel or a stock LS6 flywheel refinished be better?

I have a centerforce DF 12" and a steel flywheel. Brand new in the box for sale.I have try one one a175Hp nitrous LS7 of my friends. Hold it no problem at the dragstrip 9.98 sec @ 142 mp/h. Stock drivability and pedal effort and no sound or cling clang sound at idle like a twin disk.
Let me know Im asking around 700$ for booth and I'll give you the align tool. PM me if you are interested.

Just got my C5 back from having textrilia clutch, slave, remote bleed and new master installed.
All i can say is WOW....Clutch feels a little firmer than the stock clutch, no noise, great launch and DEAD ON...
Highly recommended.
If you lived in TX i can't speak any better about FRANKS VETTES in Spring. The guy is a vette NUT and his work is FIRST CLASS.

I have 6500 miles on my CF DF. Should have went with the 12 inch but didn't Oddly the 12 inch is cheaper. Bought mine on Amazon, cheapest I found. I installed a Lite weight Chromoly flywheel from the auction site for like 180. or less. I replaced all hydraulics, the pilot bearing, and a remote bleeder from LAPD. I also used Wilwoods 600EXP fluid. I had to buy the alignment tool from Summit for under 8 bucks.
If you do the job yourself post up or read up on tips from those who went before you. I'll tell you now removing the factory pilot bearing is gonna be the most fun of the whole job. If you consider fun as using every four letter word you can think of. However if you have the right tool it's a breeze. Just ask and you'll get all the advice you need.

Stupid question I already know the answer to (you get what you pay for come to mind?):
Anybody here just go with a stock clutch? I see everybody on about what clutches work and where, etc. Spring Mountain had completely stock cars (C5 Z's ) with 25K track miles on them and a stock clutch.
I need to put a clutch in a C5 FRC I am going to road race/autocross and am not sure that the added money for a "performance" clutch is worth it if there are still sacrifices (like this combo chatters, this combo slips. etc). Interested on thoughts. Found a few stock setups on Amazon pretty cheap.
I have a Z-grip clutch and my advice is to stay away from that. It chatters terribly and I would be incredibly upset after spending all of this money if my car was a daily driver.
C4B4the04, most people put in aftermarket clutches because they're making so much power from other modifications that the stock clutch can't hold.
12'' DF& stock flywheel, held up fine for two summers with very sticky tires at around 450rwhp. On my 4TH bottle of spray at 590rwtq it's started to slip, but has held up longer than I expected it to.
I am also looking at getting a CF DF clutch for my 2001 Z06 which is getting a cam installed and should be around 400rwtq. This Clutch is only like $400 new so it seems like a really good deal...and I want stock like driveability with no chatter in traffic which it sounds like this cluthc provides.
My question is, can I just buy the Clutch kit and use my stock flywheel? My flywheel was out of balance and they are going to be balancing it under warranty anyhow. My car has about 40k miles on it. The stock flywheels don't really "wear out" so to speak, do they?
Also, is replacing the slave and master cylinder really neccesary?
The Center force dual friction is a great clutch I ran one in my supercharger Z06 for a year. The clutch took everything I through at it now I have switched up to a Spec twin disk on my new motor and love this clutch also. The Center force is the way to go on a stock H/C or bolt motor
You should have the clutch & flywheel balanced as an assembly.Any machine shop set up to do the balancing can re-surface your stock flywheel. There is a limit to the amount of wear on a flywheel, but they can usually be re-surfaced once or twice. You should replace the hydraulics with the clutch as a precaution so you don't risk having to do all the labor twice. Also pick up a "speed bleeder"hose to make fluid changes a snap.

You should have both flywheel and clutch. It are specified on the centerforce website. If you have very low mileage no replacing of the master, but replacing the slave is an assurance.
I could sell you the entire centerforce setup clutch and steel flywheel plus align tool brand new in the box 645$ usd shipped to you're door.I don't need them anymore due to another project.
