Best bang for the buck you say? Easy answer that would be nitrous.
This will always be the best bang for the $$$$.. Initially.. You have to keep refilling the bottles Would not be my choice at all.. In the long run Cam and Long Tube headers and a good tune will pay off and you won't have to keep filling up bottles and the power will always be there at your foot not on a button.. Don't waste your time and labor on shortie headers.. That would be the worst bang for the buck, for sure. Is the clutch stock? The stock clutch on the LS1 sucks.. You will need a heavy duty clutch as part of the recipe, no matter what your final plan is... The clutch job can cost you some bucks.. I'd save a little more money and do the clutch at the same time as your other mods, Unless you are doing the labor yourself.. The stock clutch is only good for around 350rwtq/rwhp if that much

If you save a little more, you can buy a blower ($4700 A&A special right now) from A&A and will give you more power then any radical H/C package. Also, there is plenty of room to grow with a blower. Good luck with whatever you choose.
A blowers power level is almost infinate where as heads/cams have a limit of about 500rwhp if setup for max effort. If I could do it again, I would keep the car stock and get a blower. I believe there are smog legal blowers...
not too sure I want to add a blower with 80,000 miles , so going with the Synergy 228/230 114 lsa cam and 4.10 gears . Should be good improvement over stock , I hope !!!
