HELP!!! Cruise Control Problems

Just before you set your cruise control, lift up on the bottom of the brake pedal with the top of your left foot to see if the cruise holds when you set it.
Are you getting any shift "flare" or RPM "flare" when you roll into the gas? Like when you roll into it at cruising speed does your RPM go up slightly, then dump back down?
My cruise was acting funny and the torque converter was locking/unlocking intermittantly. I was getting the shift/rpm flares and cruise control would either not set or it would just turn off by itself. Turned out it was the brake switch on the brake pedal making the car think I was applying the brake.
My tranny went at 60K with 3rd and 4th gears gone too. I don't know if the brake switch causing the shifting issues to wear the tranny down or not. I re-adjusted the brake switch and all is good now.

Your best bet is to make sure that the BRAKE SWITCH is functioning properly. There are TWO brake switches. One for the light and one for the Cruise/tranny switch. The cruise function is actualy controlled inside the TAC module. I would start at the Brake switch and then the clutch switch and then trouble shoot the signals going to the TAC Module.
