Default Fan Controller ?

I am tired of high temps while city driving. Santa left a little change, so I am thinking about a controller to help lower the cooling system temp.

I have seen a unit for the C6 that has a hi/lo switch. This seems good, but not a C5 compatable.

What do you guys use? DIY? Constant on? Switchable?

Where did you get yours and how do you like it.

Thanks ahead of time.

I bought a used Hypertech programmer to use for adjusting the fan temperatures.
No additional fan controller or wiring is needed this way.

I also use a Hypertech for the very same reason. I set the fans to come on at lower temps to help keep things cool. I also replaced the thermostat with a 160 temp... but that doesn't help with prolonged city driving.

The AC condenser and radiator are HUGE dirt traps. Use special care to clean them, and you should see a temperature drop.

When I had my car dyno-tune, the tuner also reprogrammed my fans to come on earlier. He also dropped in a 160 degree thermostat.

Prior: In traffic, temp steadily rose to about 220 degrees. Fan would kick in and get it back down under 200. Repeat over and over.

Now: Stays around 180 pretty much all the time

PS: No extra hardware or switches needed. Just reprogram the fans,

The Vinci fan switch will do what you are seeking as well. There is a thermocouple that is placed in the radiator fins and an adjustment screw that allows you to set the "On" temperature. The fans then shut down 7 degrees cooler.

I have one on my car now but plan on removing and selling the unit in the spring as my PCM was re-programmed during my last tuning session for new fan temps.
