Default 4:11 rear end.....$$$

Im thinking of having a set of 4:11 put in my vert and was wondering what something like this should cost for parts and labour.
Has anyone priced this out before or had it done?
I would get some prices myself but everyone seems to be closed until Jan 4th!

Also! should I be looking for a 4:11 Gear set or a complete 4:11 Diff?

for a MN6 we charge $1395 to replace your 3.42s with 4.10 gears in your pumpkin.

If your place knows what they are doing swapping the gear set is not a big deal, but if they dont I would go with a complete setup already done.

You should talk to someone who's running that big a gear and maybe even try to find someone with one to drive it before putting that in your car. You'll be popping wheelies off the line for sure, but you'll also be pushing the red line on the tach just driving around town, and stopping for gas twice as often. Now, if you're tyring to build a race car, that's a different story.

I assume you are thinking his car is an auto with this statement because a 6 speed will not have any of the characteristics that you mention especially with the mods he has listed.

Default 4:10's = happy face

I replaced the 3:42's in my FRC with 4:10's and it made the car very driveable. If you have an auto it might be a little steep.

Bob,

Just out of curiosity, how much did it affect your fuel economy?

There have been plenty of posts regarding gears and gas mileage. Under regular driving conditions with a mn6 there is a sight loss of mpg on the highway and a slight gain around town.

Overall most people state 1 or so loss.

I guess I like to do wheelies!

I just swapped out 3.73's for 4.10's in my A4. Been using 3.73's for 2 years. It is not as bad as a lot of people make out, in fact its fun as hell!
