My 99 FRC is silent, no whoosing, no whistle, no increase noise at all. But I have a question for you, why did you relocate your MAF down near the filter instead of leaving it up near the throttle body where it belongs?
The MAF can be located in either place depending on the year of your vette. The stock intake has the MAF behind the filter in front of the air duct. This is the same install of the MAF on 97-2000 models with the Vararam. The MAF installs next to the TB on 2001 to current model Vararam installations. This is per the manufacturers instruction #19. FYI
You can go directly to the vararam website for installation instructions recommend. We installed my brothers 99 FRC in the front, behind the filter, before the bridge and it fits fine, did not throw codes, performs well, and does not whistle at all.
Good luck!

My '01 must be a special addition! My MAF sensor is located between the filter and the air bridge as well as the wiring harness plug. Matter of fact, the airbridge has an indentation at the inlet end specifically for lining up the MAF sensor. Never heard of the MAF sensor being next to the TB! I think Vararam made a typo' per #19!
