Default corvette C6R sound

How can i get my c5 to sound like the corvette c6r?

really loud, race sound.

can anyone recommend anything? exhausts?

also which wheels do they use? if anyone can forward me to a page where i can buy replicas of the c6r wheels i would be grateful. trying to get my car to be as close to a race look and sound as possible (but for road use only)

thanks!!

Why, so you can be like the idiots running straight pipes on Harleys and pissing everyone off? An exhaust like that will draw cops and tickets for yourself like stink on you-know-what. Don't hurt the Corvette image by doing this, respect your neighbors. A properly tuned legal pace car-type exhaust with long tube headers will give you a sweet sound without pissing off everyone you come near.

The only way your going to make your car sound like a C6R build a C6R engine. I added ZO6 Ti exhaust to my 98 coupe because I loved the way the ZO6 sounded compared to a stock C5 Coupe. I was very depressed when the car sounded nothing like the ZO6. The ZO6 has a different CAM and that makes a big difference in how the exhaust sounds.

My Stainless Works 1 3/4" LT headers with a complete 3" exhaust system sounded pretty tame on my Z until I added new heads and a big cam. That suckers a LOT LOUDER now

I removed the mufflers from my 98 to see how it sounded. Yea, it was loud but it sounded real raspy and crude.

I agree with Tim01Coupe

Without serious engine work, I can almost guarantee that your efforts to make your car sound like a C6R will result in a car that sounds like it's powered by and outboard motor.

I see you are located in England. Go with Long Tube Headers and no cats if possible. Then add a B&B Bullet or similar exhaust. If that is not loud enough, add QTP electric cut-outs to the mix. It may not sound like a C6R but, it will certainly be LOUD.

There are a few vendors out there that offer the C6R style wheels, They may look good, but they are not light-weight.

Good luck!

But love the raspy and crude

LT heads, great smooth flowing X pipe and straight pipes. Sounds great. wont sound like the C5r or C6R but still sound great.

The race corvettes have big side pipes, plus the special race built engine.

You must be kidding, who are you to call anyone a idiot for running straight pipes on their car or bike. You can run straight pipes and drive were your not blowing everyone around you away.My bud has Pace cars on his car and they are not much quieter then straights. As for corvette image more then half the guys in the forum are running heavy modded cars with turbos,s/c etc.Image is what the owners wants HIS/HER car to be not what someone else thinks it should be.HAPPY NEW YEAR GRAMPS.

Oh I run LTs, High Flow Cats, smooth x-pipe and straight pipes out of cammed and modifed engine. at 50 feet it is just over 100 dbs at full WOT

Loud is an understatement. I just drive according in my little town where there are signs posted for "No engine braking."

So I guess no flying into town, slam on the brakes and downshift though the gears.

which I dont do

I second Golden Eagle...

loud pipes save lives. I love my straight pipes as it's jsut about as raunchy as it can get without goign to stacks through the hood. Car junkies love it. But I don't drive much on the street because I'm not fond of texas cops and my garage is below my neighbors apartment (and I rattle the glassware/drown out the TV as my roommate tells me)

So I'm toying around with some mufflers to make my own catback... until I move back to the car friendly state of Oklahoma where loud pipes reign supreme.

If you love the sound and you don't live where cranky old people live... then let that V8 sing.

I run longtube headers, no cats w/stock h-pipe (soon switching to 3" x pipe), and nxt step/granatelli catback. I think it sounds pretty racey even with stock internals.

I LIKE em loud myself. I like checking out a well done performance enhanced car. I like to see guys racing\tracking\autoxing their cars. I want to make children scream and grown men cry!! Just maybe the guys modding their cars are trying to battle the 'Corvette Image' that we're just a bunch of old farts with monogrammed dust rags pretending the Dairy Queen parking lot is the Pebble Beach Concours. I miss the days when Corvette Guys were ALL gearheads. But, as is your view that we're all just ruffians for liking this, it's just an opinion and everybody can do whatever they damn well please with their car.

I did this mod and really like the difference. I did NOT want a drone, been there, done that ! What this did is gave me the same quietness at idle or cruise, but really gets crisp when you "gag" it.

IIRC England or the UK does have sound ordinances. I have a freind south of London and his C6Z06 which is stock, does not pass the sound ordnance when he takes his car to the track. I think he said his car was 96 dbs and the sound laws are 91 dbs)
SO be carfule.

Loud is great, in the right places.

and if some one does not like the sound, give them ear plugs.

Woah, I think it's like 103 or something at Portland, with the close neighbors and all. I have to check the new road course that just opened up, it's in the boonies I think so maybe no restrictions.
