Ok, I have been looking on the forums and I have been calling around, but I havent gotten a definite answer for my situation.
So here is my situation. I have a 99 ls1 vette with a maggie s/c with a 3.1 (i think the stock one is 3.3) pulley. I am getting ready to do heads and cam and a tune to it since right now i already have headers, exhaust, intake, s/c and a few other things. basically what i was told was this was the last bolt ons i could do to the car without ripping into the engine.
Ok, so the suggestion was get ls2/ls6 head (which i was told are cast number 243 and are the same thing..... is this correct?) and then re-cam it and get a good tune.
so does this sound right?
also, what kind of cam should i get to make my heads and s/c run right?
basically i want torque and power. but at the same time i dont want to blow this thing up too.
also do i REALLY need to get some parts replaced on the head? i was told it isnt necessary since i am not racing, just looking for power on tap

Yes, but if you are going with a cam, you might as well upgrade the valve springs, pushrods, etc.

Easily determined by talking to the experts at A&A or ECS.

In my opinion yes, it's a very small investment, for a large margin of safety.
