Will A/C come on when...
...it's 20 deg. or less outside?
Hi all!
Had to bring my car in last week. Starter died
all is well on that now but I noticed that when I took my car home yesterday (from stealership!) I put on the defroster and I noticed the A/C light did not go on. It was below 20 outside. I know that the A/c does not come on below a certain temp, but I thought the defroster always put on the compressor and thus the light for the A/c came on

I know none of us ever reads the manual 
but it's got a good description for this one:
A/C (Air Conditioning): This button turns
the air conditioning compressor off or on under most
conditions. The light on the A/C button will come on
when the compressor is operating in either the automatic
or manual mode. The air conditioning does not operate
at temperatures below approximately 35F to 40F
(2C to 4C). The light on the A/C button will flash if
pressed when air conditioning is not available. The air
conditioning cools and dehumidifies the air coming into
the vehicle. The air conditioning cannot be turned off in
defrost and defog, as it helps to remove moisture from
the vehicle. It also helps to keep the windows clear.
