Now that my area has 10% Ethanol I'm interested in finding out if I can tweak my tune to give me better performance than I'm currently getting on a "E0" tune.
My research here and elsewhere indicates that E10 has a lower stoic than gas, from my limited research I think it's 14.0 or so vs 14.68 for gas (about 4.5% lower). Unfortunately it also has less BTU's of energy..but it has higher octane, around 112.
My WOT AFR tuning is on E10 since that's all I can buy - but I've got it tuned to 12.6 which is what I like for E0 (pure gasoline). I wonder if making it richer, say 12.0 (4.5% lower) would give me more power?
I'd say its a wash,,What little boost you gain from the ethanol is countered by lower quality in the gas,,and is averaged out in the pump octane rating,,which for most areas is 93 or 91 (depending on where you live)!Mine was run in a dyno display last spring(with a stock computer. It kept "tweaking" the top end air/fuel,,and it's max power on the last run at 5300-5600 RPM with an a/f ratio running right at 11.9 on Shell 93oct.with 10% eth.!! Don't think there's much left on the table for a tune,,unless it's running a lot fatter of leaner!! Only way would be tuning on the dyno and running a fine line on the AFR!!
