my question is-can the black box be removed? I don't like monitoring of me....
It's part of the airbag system, and would be difficult to remove without totally disabling the airbags. As for monitoring, it only keeps a running tally of the last 15 sec or so of info, which it stores in the event of an airbag deployment.
The stored data can be a two edged sword. If you're going way over the speed limit and cause a horrible crash, the data is just one more nail in your coffin. Howver, if you get into a crash where you were not being too foolish, it can refute the idiot eyewitness who says "that vette must have been doing at least 100 mph. It's his fault."
