Default Oil leak, ideas?

My 99 coupe has recently developed an oil leak. I've noticed spots on the driveway coming from the very front of the car. Hopefully get it on a lift today. Any ideas or common oil leak issues I should look out for?

Just glad it's not the differential, at least I think!

Best bet would be the front main seal. Won't cost much if you do it your self but for a shop, depending on labor rates, but somewhere around $250.00 - $350.00. Good luck!

Are you sure that it's oil? Coolant will also leave oily spots on a driveway.

Put some plastic sheeting under the car where you park, to help determine what the fluid is.

It could be from anywhere. My '99 developed a leak which turned out to the pan gasket. Replaced it with no more and no more leak.

It could also be oil from the air conditioning. I had that problem on an '00 and thought it was engine oil at first. If so, the likely location is where the "line set" plugs into the back of the AC compressor. This can be inexpensive to repair. You can search my name for a post on how to DIY the fix.

It could also be a power steering leak. Check the pump, hoses and rack.

Top of engine, rear of intake manifold. Many threads here about them and how to replace. They are cheap and cause a range of problems from bad oil pressure readings to leaks. Mine did both .Leaks down around rear of engine, like a bad rear main.Sometimes smokes because it leaks onto manifold.
