Default BCM features

According to the service manual the export version of the C5 has a hood ajar sensor, which is input into the BCM. I added a hood ajar sensor to my car for my security system. I'm pretty impressed with the way it turned out, lift either side of the hood 5mm and it will set the aftermarket alarm off.

question, if I were to connect that signal which is ground when the hood is ajar to the correct pin on the BCM, does anyone know if the BCM still has the hood ajar code? is it possible that I could even get a Hood Ajar warning on the DIC? I'm not sure how the export models work.

I'm mostly interested to know if I could add this feature as a safety device to alert me if the hood is not closed all the way.

for that matter, looks like the BCM has inputs for convertables to alert the driver if the top is not attached properly. how does that work? what kind of sensors does it use? I wonder how hard it would be to fashon that BCM feature into a Targa Top not secure circuit for coupes to help prevent entry into the flying roof club??? I've been thinking about that one for a while now.

You might already have this, if not maybe it will help.
