That video makes it sound really bad. I'm thinking you were absolutely correct to shut her down. I'm surprised the compresson tests came back good. I suggest contacting one of the forum vendors here that deal with engines and ask for an opinion. Since you were doing a burn-out, possible clutch let go?

I talked to Cartek(they build the motor) and they seemed to believe it was a top end issue. Since I checked everything in the top end but the lifters they were leaning towards that too.
As it was happening the first thing I thought of was exhaust or clutch. The clutch held fine and felt normal as I was rolling out of my burnout. When I took it out of gear during the roll it disengaged fine. So it feels fine. The noise doesn't sound in any way like it could be clutch.
If the clutch pedal was pushed in shouldn't the noise change a bit if it were the clutch? I know with the clutch pedal in the noise was consistant.
I wouldn't think the compression test would come back good if it was a lifter that got thrashed. Do you remember if you still had oil pressure during the aftermath?

I checked that real quick before shutting it down. It was @ 40.
I'm having trouble trying to figure out that source of the sound coming from the engine yet still having good compression. Accessories such as the ps pump, ac compressor? I'm guessing the hvac was off at the time but the idlers are still there of course. Still, the sound seems much worse than that. With all the unknowns, I think I would be getting it jacked all the way around, several knowing people present, then start it up very briefly in hopes of identifying the source of the sound. Oh, dumb quick thought here, did you look at the harmonic balancer?
Did not check the harmonic balancer. Will do though. I have a friend coming over Saturday. I'll have to start it up and maybe he can help listen. Maybe I can find a few more people too.
