Can the rubber surrounding the piston be repaired and replaced, or do I have to buy a new set? And Im looking at the ssbc 3 piston calipers..whoever has them.. do you feel a great difference in stoppin distance and power? Are they worth twice as much as the stockers?
I will be installing brake ducts as well because the car is tracked..so If there isnt a drastic difference Ill stay with the stockers.. I think the ssbc ones help with the pad taper issue though, although I might be wrong

You can get a caliper rebuild kit from NAPA, AutoZone, pretty much anywhere. The kits include the new rubber. When I rebuilt mine I added the Doug Rippie stainless pistons to reduce heat transfer to the brake fluid. That worked pretty well on my track car until switched to R compound tires.
When I switched tires I put on a set of SSBC's Tri Power 3 piston calipers. HELLO!!! Although I'm sure they're probably not as good as a $4,000 set of Wilwoods or whatever, they make a huge difference. I immediately reduced my stopping distance by a least one shut down marker and as long as there was some semblance of pad remaining I never ran out of brakes.
I run Carbotech 10s and 8s and I used to taper them pretty bad even when I tried to switch them around as frequently as possible. With the SSBCs, pad taper is a thing of the past. Since then we've also put them on my track partner's Z and he's equally as pleased with them.

I just got the fronts. They're doing most of the work and that's where I was having the biggest tapering problem. I think I paid $780 on a deal, but that was a couple years ago, so $800 sounds pretty good.
I also run titanium backing plates behind the piston side pads only. I don't have a clue if they really help, just thought I'd mention it.
I think they are an excellent upgrade for the money. You're going to enjoy them.
