Default Spark plug question/advice....

Seems like im changing my plugs every couple of weeks.... The car cuts out and hops after minimal mileage.. What plugs should i be using? Im using either the TR55 or TR6s.(The colder one of the two,I think TR6 , id have to look to say) I was told to go to the colder ones cause of my compression ratio(11.8-1) 427.My camshaft is a .647 .647 on a 110* 254 262 . I do "cruise" more than i floor it! (shift at 2500-3000) -when im driving around town etc. Is there any other plugs i should try? Is my candy *** driving burning up or fouling plugs out? Any advice is appreciated!! - Jason

TR55s are fine. Is your car running rich or lean? I would think the problem is in your tune.

You re probably right! In your opinion, is this cam tuneable? Or should i go with a "smaller" cam? It doesn t run real good till 2000-2100rpms.... Should i go with a speed density tune? Thanks for helping!-Jason

I'm sure its tunable. What do you mean when you say it isn't good until 2k rpms? It surges or it just doesn't make power?

It cuts out till 2k then runs great after that all of the way up the rpms. The tuner i had tune it origionally said that my cam was too big. After reading threads with guys having stock cubes (mine is a 7.0l)and similar cams, i started thinking that it could be tuned to be driveable in the under 2k range too. It surges up to 1600rpms down to 400 or so, up and down when u press in the clutch when slowing down at a stop sign. I like to drive this car without going ***** to the wall sometimes and it feels like that s all it wants to do. I was thinking about swapping in a smaller cam but i really want this one to work if it can....

Actually, yes...It wouldn t stay running at all after the engine swap. He dynoed it and got it to idle etc. But it didn t have very good driveability below 2k and as the weather got colder or as the engine accumulated the 1200 miles or so it has now, it has gotten worse, it seems, AND it wants to stay at 1600rpms at idle, if its not "hunting" or surging. So, Yeah its been "tuned", but......

I just checked your profile. I have software for your car and would be happy to scan it for you.
