I just purchased Kooks longtube headers/catted X-pipe, and Vararam air intake for my 6spd 2002 C5. I also added Corsa Touring catback exhaust system. What will be the approximate horsepower and torque increase with these additions, and do I need to get car tuned, or just run it as is? Thanks, Mike.
So, do you think the tune is necessary? The reason I'm asking is because I have a friend with a built C4 that he runs, and he has wrenched and raced for years. He says that a tune is a waste of money for just those additions, and that I shouldn't need a tune unless I do a head or cam change. I don't mind spending the money if it will improve performance, but if it is only an insignificant increase then maybe I'll hold off. Just looking for opinions.
Also, does anyone have any opinions on the Predator type tuners that you buy and tune yourself? Thanks, Mike
If you are going to tune the car, go to a real tuner and don't waste money on a hand held.
Make sure they spend time on the street portion of the tune. Most will charge a larger fee up front and then if you make changes later it is a lot less money for a re-tune.
