Default Lowering? Maybe not =(

Well today was a very poor day for me. I finally got my car back from the dealer and decided to start installing all my mods that have been sitting here by starting with the suspension. I have longer bolts for the rear, was gonna remove the front bolt, Bilstein Sports, and Hotchkis F&R all at the same Time.

I went ahead and jacked the whole car up and had her on jackstands and got started on the front. I was using these instructions http://www.corvetteforum.cc/techtips...D=90&TopicID=1

I followed those 100% by the book. I got to the step where i lowered the jack and the lower a-arm *should* have come down but it didn't! I tried every thing I could think of to try and get the a-arm to move...it wouldn't....and I tried everything all the way up to a small sledge-hammer. I undid the sway bar endlink, struts (since i was taking it out anyway) and the ball joint. Am I missing something? I struggled with this for quite a long time and finally got frustrated and gave up :(

Now, I'm not new to mods, I've done suspension upgrades on other cars and I'm usually very fast and accurate. But this just wasn't my day. So, I'm looking for any help here...

Thanks,
Adam

If you want to lower your car put a jack stand under the frame and move the jack under the car...jack up the leaf spring and the bolt will be easily movable by hand

Same problem when I did my leaf springs. What we ended up doing in only jacking on the bottom of the rotor. It went fairly high before it popped.

Wicked,

Thank god someone else has had this problem and it isn't just me ;) I did try to jack up just the rotor but maybe I didn't go high enough. I had it where the frame was off the jackstand on that side of the car....should I have gone higher?

Thanks again guys,
Adam

I had the same problem and I jacked up on the rotor also. It didn't work for me I had the thing up off the jack stands and it was scaring me. I gave up but CMILVETTE e-mail me and told me to undo these 4 bolts and then swing the whole thing down and then jack the spring up. It worked great

Hey Adam... I am thinking about doing the same thing, lowering and adding some Bilstein's. Let me know if you need any help, we shouldn't be that far down the road from eachother! :D

Patrick

Patrick,
Sure an extra hand is always welcome :) I'm gonna be out of town the next two weekends but maybe in 3wks I'll give the suspension another shot and we can get together :) Email me and let me know if you'd like to stop by.

MySea5,
If I can get the damn things out you can just have the bolt for the cost of shipping...gonna be real expensive since they're so heavy and all :cheers

Thanks Adam, I'll drop you an email soon.

Did you get it apart yet? Dropping from the top always works when you can
not get the lower ball joint to break loose.
