Haven't used the speed bleeders but did my brakes recently using the Motive Pressure bleeder. Makes the job so easy.

Yes, I bought them from LG and they work great. Saves a lot of time.

+1 on the Motive Power bleeder - get one. I'm in the middle of a full brake rebuild right now and I started by doing a system flush with fresh DOT 4 fluid -- I didn't want old fluid going through the new Z06 calipers I'm installing The Motive bleeder makes one man bleeding with no pedal pumping a reality - no speed bleeders necessary.

The speed bleeders are way easier to use than the motive system.

Just crack the bleeder and attach a collector. Pump the brake pedal a couple of times, close bleeder and move on to the next one.

Check the brake fluid level.

The job is so easy with speed bleededs that, you will forget to refill the brake revisour with fluid! MAKE SURE that you frequently check the resivour level and DO NOT let it go dry!!!

Hmm. Since I have an impending brake job coming up (new pads and rotors), I think I should look into these speed bleeders. Are they available at any auto parts store, or are they a mail-order item specific to Corvettes?

Seems getting Motive bleeder is the best choice, LG selling those bleeders for $29 bucks for a pair and u need to 2 pairs, with motive atleast u dont have fear of running fluid low, and jeorpardize ABS system, and than u have to loan tech II to solve that issue.

Never used both of em but thinking of getting motive bleeder.

Not really true. You can just drive the car down the block and stomp on the brakes to activate the ABS system and purge the air that way.

If you're that inept that you don't re-fill the brake fluid after bleeding each wheel, maybe you should leave the job to a pro.

The motive method can be messy if you don't get it sealed up right and could end up with brake fluid all over the place.

Just got done bleeding mine last nite with Motive. No mess, no fuss. Got a bleeder bottle with a clear line so you can see when the air is gone. The first time I used it I filled the Motive with the brake fluid and that is a slight mess. But no fear of resevour going dry. The next time I just watched that the resevour doesn't go dry and no problems.

They are Earl's speed bleeders. I recently got them cheaper from huge supply chain (ie: Summit, Jegs, etc,)

Just did mine today and I used the brake bleeder from Harbor Freight. Worked like a charm.

If you go with the Motive bleeder I'd recommend using it DRY. Fill the reservoir, and then just use the Motive to pressurize the reservoir to 15 psi. Get one of their catch bottles too and you'll have an easy time of it. It takes more time, but I de-pressurize and top off the reservoir after bleeding each caliper. If you get the 1108 bleeder the cap is a perfect fit, and using it dry there is virtually no chance of a brake fluid "accident".

My motive brake bleeder takes the same cap that comes on the car. If you can't replace the cap without causing a leak, maybe you should leave the job to a pro (JK, I couldn't resist).

I have used both the speed bleeders and the Motive brake bleeder and I guess its just a matter of personal preference because I find the Motive easier to use. With the Motive you don't have to keep jumping in and out of the car and it's easier to change your brake fluid. But the speed bleeders are cheaper and they will both do the job.

I still use the manual bleeding method. I am also suspicious that a pressurized bleeder is a disaster waiting to happen. No chance of getting brake fluid on anything if you just use the pedal to bleed the system.
I made a big enough mess just bench bleeding my master cylinder, but at least it was nowhere near the car.

I got mine locally from Pep Boys. M10-1.0 is the size. $10 for a pair.

You can get them from Summit and Jegs, too.
