I'm curious as well. I used to have the 04 Z06 shocks, I'm waiting to hear what others have to say, I'm thinking of getting a set of 2008 C6 Z06 shocks.
I recently installed C6 Z06 shocks on my car, they replaced my 65k mile 02 Z06 shocks. Nothing major as far as ride quality, a little more solid over bumps and potholes. They made the car feel more solid when cornering hard as well. For the money they can't be beat, but I'm sure there are better options if you wanna spend more money.
I have read on here that the only difference is the initial ride height of the shocks....not sure how true that is but if someone could elaborate it would be great.
If the new ones are alot cheaper and better, why not.
The 2004 Z06 shocks were tweeked from J. Heinracy and others input at GM performance for the C5. The C6 has a slightly different rear geometry and the C6 Z shock were made accordingly. For Time trials and autocrossing the 2004 Z shocks are better. For daily drivers, etc, get the C6 Z shocks because they are cheaper.
I ordered my 04´s the other day. They are about (not quite) twice the price, but for no money in the world I wanted my car to sit any higher than it does now. I also got myself the 04 Z06 sway bars.
I am not autocrossing but pushing it pretty hard sometimes and for that want the best (economically reasonable) solution. Especially since I ordered my s/c from ECS...
I installed them on my ZO6. NO difference in ride height! Shocks, if installed correctly should NOT have any effect on ride height! Period. Unless your installing AIR SHOCKS!
I think the ride height thing comes from the gas pressure in the shock. If your old shocks are wore out, they will have less gas pressure. The pressure can unload the suspension a little but that should settle out as the shock is used
Big improvement in cornering on rough roads. Takes the tendency to side step around corners out of the equation. Best buy for the performance vs cash flow.
Fit is 100% like your old shocks. Performance,,,is very good. Firms up the car where it use to be gittery (in sharp turns where the road is rough. No more rear end side stepping.
Im sure that there are better shocks but, for the price and performance level that they provide, you cant beat them.
