My cruise control disengages when I turn on my brights, turn signals, or move/wiggle the stalk. I replaced my multi-function switch 6 months or so ago for other issues, so I'm guessing that a wire may have gotten pinched or something? Just wanted to see if any other forum members have had this issue so I have an idea of what to look for before I start tearing into it.
Same thing started happening to me about 4 weeks ago. I thought I bumped the clutch and disengaged the cruise. But last night on a long drive it disengaged several times and I KNOW I didn't touch anything. I thought maybe I had a tire going down so I pulled over and checked - nope all's fine there (2001 Z06 - thankfully no TPMS). Then the "Active Handling" message would appear in the DIC and then the cruise would disengage - I was driving on a straight and level freeway at 70 so there was no reason for the AH message.
Any one have any suggestions? I could really use some guidance and suggesitons - many thanks.
If one or more of those sensors is giving false information it can cause the cruise control to disengage.
The most common failure item in this group is the (SWPS) sensor. If I had to guess it would be that one. It isn't all that difficult to replace but it requires removing the steering column.
I would start with locating all of the sensors and checking the connectors for damaged spread female pins, loose/bad wiring, dirty contacts etc.....
