Tried a search on this but no luck so here it goes...
This hasn't been a problem so far, but just a strange thing. I have noticed when starting the vette, there is a hissing sound inside the cabin. The sound doesn't last more than 30 seconds.
Its probably vacuum related. The only thing that uses vacuum inside the cabin is the HVAC damper doors. Try changing damper door positions and see if it changes. Theres a damper door vacuum controller in the passengers foot well mounted on the air box.
That controles vacuum to the damper doors.
From the crontroler, the lines go to vacuum servos:
Make sure that all those lines are properly connected and that controller is working correctly. Do you have positive control of all your damper doors?

Fuel pump?
Not sure where the sound is coming from, but my fuel pump (LPE) makes somewhat of a "hissing" sound that I can hear at idle.
The fuel pump is behind the driver's seat, in the left fuel tank.
Yea I know, I've changed mine twice
The OP didn't say WHERE in the cabin the hissing sound was coming from, and it is VERY noticable INSIDE the cabin on even a stock pump when it is going out.

Hey Fellas,
Thank you tremendously for the traction here
The hissing sound sounds like it is definitely coming from the front... as if from the dash. Of course, I doubt is from the dash, but it sounds like Bill Curlee is onto something. I need to understand door dampeners and how I reposition them. Is the picture shown the entire door dampener or a large assembly that contains the door dampeners. Sorry for my ignorance here.
Sounds like a plot for a new movie. Snakes in a Vette..
Samuel Jackson, "There are Mother F****** SNAKES IN MY VETTE!"
On a serious note, excellent photos above. Even though I may not be experiencing problems noted in threads, I read each one to gain insights and knowledge. This forum never fails.
How about telling us for where you hear the hiss? Front, back, dash, etc. Otherwise, invest in a snake bite kit......STAT!
