Default Bilstein Vs. C6Z

I need to change the shocks on my 01 coupe, it is lowered and is a daily driver, what is the better way to go Bilstein or C6Z. I am looking for a smooth ride that still handles well, I dont need a racecar, I cant drive that well to use it.

These shocks may be close, performancewise, but I'll bet the Bilsteins outlast the Zs by a longshot. Nobody beats Bilsteins, at least from my experience over the years.

If your car is lowered do the the Bilstien's. There a shorter shock and are bettter for lowered cars

I just took C6Z shocks off my lowered C5Z track car and put Bilsteins on. Can't really tell that much difference in ride or handling.

So, the bilsteins are a shorter shock and will have the car sit lower than stock? I am leaning towards this as well.

No, they're the same length but they have a bit more compression travel and you can lower your car a little further and the suspension won't bottom out as quickly.

Thanks for the help, I am sad to say I cant get low enough to bottom out. It sounds like the shoks are the same otherwise give or take a few years of life. I guess I will go with the GM parts....perhaps I might keep them running for an extra second or so......

I have the Bilstein's on my Z06, and it rides incredibly. It's lowered on longer bolts, and has a firm, but comfortable ride.

I thought I read that C6Z shocks would raise the ride height of a C5 slightly? Can anyone verify if this is true or not?

I've seen a few posts from others saying as much as 1/4 inch. Supposedly they settle after 1-2k miles, but not sure.

I got Summit to price match shox.com. I would have ordered them directly from shox, but since summit is so close I get everything the next day. I love it!

Ok, so I just looked on GM parts direct and it appears that 08 z06 rear shocks are only like $60 a piece, am I missing something or is this right? If this is correct, I'm def. gonna try them.

I picked the Fe3 sport suspension I believe when looking them up.

Keep in mind there are two different sets of Bilsteins to choose from.
The "Sports" which are firmer and the "HD" which are more like stock (kind of between the Sports and OEM shocks...or so I've heard).

To the OP, I would suggest the HD Bilsteins.
