Okay, i have a question. Sounds kind of dumb to me though, not properly stored, but its not mine. My fathers friend has a 04 which he put into storage over the winter, didnt disconnect the battery or anything. but apparently he left the door cracked to where the lights were still on and the battery died. He switched the battery and now the car starts fine and goes into gear and everything but there is no throttle response at all. Also he said the security light is on? I'm not sure of any codes showing up, i'll have to find out tomorrow. thanks fellas.
so are you saying when the car is started and at an idle you step on the gas the car does nothing? If thats the case the car is a drive by wire setup and maybe the sensors have gone bad on the throttle body.

Hope that helps.
yea that is the case. i'll let him know to have the sensors checked out.
The car is in reduced power mode. You probably have that message in the DIC Message window. The cause of the issue is the dead battery and starting the car after the battery was charged.
Have the battery fully charged and properly tested. If it OK, properly reinstall it. MAKE SURE that the battery terminal are torqued to 11 FT/LBS!!!
After the battery is reinstalled and torqued, Pull up ALL the DTC's and clear each one of them. Once you clear them, go back and make sure that there cleared.
Start the car and see if the message is cleared. If not read the DTCs again and post what pops up here.
Mine did that after being parked a few months.
It had a dead battery so I charged it and started it, but I could only drive at an idle even when throttle was pushed to the floor.
I parked the car overnite then the next day I reset all the codes and it was fine. LOL not really sure what happened but problem never came back

All sorts of beasties go away. I had TCS failure/reduced power warning a few weeks ago, barely able to get into a parking garage. Came back twenty minutes later, started up, still had the problem. Shut down, pulled the codes and cleared them, fired that muthah up and haven't seen it since. BTW - the problem is almost certainly related to a poor ground. See Bill Curlee's sticky on electrical issues. It is killer and what I used to solve my problem (at least I think it did 'cuz it hasn't come back).
maybe the sensors have gone bad on the throttle body.
Hope that helps.
there's an easy way to check that the butterfly and associated motor are working.
Remove the air bridge coupler - this allows you to look directly into the throttlebody. Turn the ignition to "on"... but don't start the engine. Then slowly press the accelerator all the way to the floor and slowly back. Watch the butterfly plate and see if it opens all the way... and without any interruptions.
