Default Head/cam parts list help!

Hi guys and gals!

I'm about to embark on my heads and cam adventure, and I thought I might ask the question to ensure I have everything I need. Here's my list, what am I missing?

ported and polished LS6 heads w/upgraded springs and retainers
new comp cam
new comp lifters
new comp chromemoly pushrods
HS upgraded rocker arms
new Melling oil pump
new double roller timing chain
underdrive pulley
Dynatech long tube headers
exhaust gaskets
header bolts
head gaskets
new GM crank bolt
new GM head bolts
30# injectors
160 Tstat

I'm also replacing the water pump (and gaskets). What about knock sensors? Thanks for the help, I'm sure I'll need more in the next few weeks as I tear this thing apart!

100% on the mark. I up-graded to ARP head studs and the ARP damper bolt and was very impressed with the quality and results of the product. Once you install those head studs,,,WOW,,,you wont question the price difference.

I also pinned the crank. I do not have a power adder (forced induction) and many people stated that unless you plan on going forced induction, pinning the crank was un-necessary. The process is remarkably SIMPLE and provides you the insurance that the damper CAN NOT spin on the crank snout and cause the bolt to come loose.

I also added a timing chain dampener. If you have the provisions and can find one,,,,,it is highly recommended to install one.

Lifter buckets: If you have an EARLY C5,,,look on the bottom of the lifter buckets and if it's got a 10 on the bottom,,,,replace them.

MLS head gaskets. If you have an early C5 that used a composite gasket, up-grade to MLS gaskets.

MAKE SURE that the head bolt holes are ABSOLUTELY clean and dry! If there are any liquid in the dead bolt holes,,,,you risk damaging the block when torquing the head bolts!

MAKE SURE that the timing chain cover gasket is on in the CORRECT orientation. If you don't,,,you will have a MASSIVE oil leak.

Good LUCK!

BC

I agree with Bill on the ARP head studs, and crank bolt. I would pass on the comp lifters, GM LS7 lifters work fine-but then again you really only need them if you have alot miles!

Have fun and post up the finished results!

Thanks and let me know....I appreciate it!

Get back from AZ April 6th and will start my project then. I will be taking my time, and learning a lot, following steps etc. I want to do everything right. Plus I have a lot of parts to install. Don't expect to be done until beginning of May and I will be asking some questions and taking a lot of pictures!

Thanks for the great gesture! I think I have all my lubes & fluids since I have been planning this since last October!!! Hopefully everything will go smooth. A couple of local guys have offered some help which is great too. I have done a lot of external car work but this is my first internal mod other than small engines! I have spent a lot of money on parts and preparing and the initial startup will scare the crap out of me Once I get oil pressure and all sounds good I will be relieved! I may call on one of the local guys to help me fire it up to be safe!!

Bob, I know you updated your valley cover to 04. Was that because you had an older version? I have an 03 so I should be good right?
