I have a 99 c5 convertible and it leaks in the touchless car wash really bad at the window roof gaskets. I was wondering if that was common ?? I have not driven the car in the rain ( and its garaged ) so i dont know if it happens in the rain . Any help would be greatly appericated. I have also adjusted the windows so they are in the right position and it seams to only leak were the gaskets split when top would be folding to put down...
THe only time my vert has ever leaked was in a no-touch car wash. It drives the water above the gaskets and frame between the top and the head liner. Never happened before - or since. If I'm in a bind I'll take it to a U-wash high pressure joint.
I have a 2002 tight as a drum. If You think your having a problem a little silicone or rubber treatment will keep the weather stripping soft an supple. Also be sure your windows are adjusted correctly.
my 99 very leaks on both windows. I've taken it to a local body shop to have them professionally align the windows. After that, it still leaked, and I took it back. THe body shop called a GM support number, and was told that this is normal, and not all leaks can be prevented.
So, I keep a black hand-towel in my car right behind the driver seat. When it rais, I place it on my left shoulder to catch the drops.
Mine leaked above the passenger window. The window was positioned perfectly. It was the weather seals in the wrong position. I had to bend the mounts on the framework to push the seals out slightly.
my 99 is dry and i use ragtop on it as well to help waterproof. i have been in some driving rains with no leaks but i have never taken it to a car wash. i think this is forbidden in the vette code handbook under unreasonable treatment and you could loose your vette card

It's right in the manual - avoid automatic car washes, for this very reason like the others have said. The seals are not designed to repel water coming at a horizontal angle under high pressure. That's pretty much all there is to it.
Also, vert rear glass windows have a tendency to break loose over time and I can think of no place I would rather not be than in one of those car washes if it decided to start separating.
My 99 going down the highway in the rain leaks at the passenger side, its the original white top - which has some cracking -- dont know why the white is different material than other colors - but it sucks w/ the cracking & looks !!!
Mine is a 2000. It leaks bad in a car wash. No leaks otherwise. Problem is there is no real seal between the top and the weatherstriping along the window. When you fold the top up for storage you can see where it is coming from. The top material folds away from the frame and sides. Nothing to hold it in place. There is a small weatherstrip seal there but it is not attached to the top material. I guess in theory you might be able to take something and seal the top to the frame where the weatherstrip is at above the windows. But that may prevent it from folding properly.
