My son has an LS2 engine in his Jeep and wants to know if a LS6 cam shaft will fit in his engine and will it add any HP? He's NOT looking for a major cam up-grade. The cam is basicly free and his engine is apart.

cam ring on the 6 cam is out back, the LS2 reads up front off the wheel, so as I'm typing this, I will SPECULATE and say it will be fine, although I have ZERO firsthand experience other than the typical Comp grinds installed in the few C6's I've done
you want to talk to Don Kinder/Slowhawk when it comes time for the tune, he's done some Lsx transplants in the NE
Isn't the stock LS2 camshaft basically the same as an LS6 camshaft?
I've heard that before as well, that the LS2 is basically a 6.0L version version of the 2001 LS6, using the exact same cam and basically the same heads too.

I thought about the timing issue too, Steve. Don't LS2's have their cam timing marks on the cam gear? If so, I would think he could use the LS6 cam with the LS2 timing set that came in his motor and he would be fine.
Although, if the cams are the same, he is wasting his time
I'm surprised that nobody asked what the LS2 came out of. GM uses a few different cams depending on the body style it's in. If it's out of a vette I don't think there's enough difference - if any - to make any difference.

Mike, this is BC here, he knows the 2 cam is bigger than the 6 cam and could have it done quicker than most could swap out a BCM
LS6 cam has the wheel 'ground' into the cam out back
LS2 cam has nada, reads off the front timing wheel that bolts to the cam
the ONLY cams I have seen w/out the timing wheel are from GM(LS2 up)
the ONLY cams I have seen and/or installed in LS2's are from Comp, which to my knowledge 'still' grinds the timing wheel into ALL cams for 'standardization' I speculate
Yea its a 2005 C6 LS2 engine. I took the 90MM TB off of it for my FAST 90 up grade and ported it. His JEEP needs a throttle by cable TB. Ever see a JEEP with 43" tires pull a wheelie!!!
My son was asking the question so i thought I would throw the question out there. He doesnt have the extra cash to even think about a tune so, Im going to tell him to pass on the deal.

Thanks for any input.

if done in a Vette I thought the LS6 cam adds some hp to an LS2? No?
