Default Best spark plug wire?

I am considering replacing my sparkplug wires at 50K miles. What is the best wire? Is there any advantage to the popular Magnecor wire over the GMPP red sold by Ken? Thanks.

I think your best bet is to do a search and read through all of the discussions. You will learn more faster than waiting on everyones biased opinion. That said, I went with the Magnecors b/c of great past experiences with them.

I'm going with Taylor Thunderbolt's. I hear they are a bit better than the Magnecor's due to the fact that supposedly after you remove and replace the plugs after awhile, the wire doesn't connect to the plug as solidly, becomes somewhat loose on the spark plug. This is what I was told.
I heard this from a guy at Thunderracing.com when I was attempting to order the Magnecor's from them...

I run the Taylor's primarily becasue the red looks so nice inside the Z06 engine bay.

I did two searches on the forum and could not find a solid reason to chose one over the other. No one admits to use the GMPP and Magnecor might fall off the plugs(?) So what is wrong with the General's red GMPP?

I like my MSD wires. The Mag. and Taylor wires are good too. :)

Do you know the part number for the MSD wires for a Vette? Are your red?
My local auto parts store carries MSD wires but they have a million sets to choose from :(
Yes they are red. Do not know the part number. I would advise getting them from Summit Racing. They were around 55 bucks plus shipping.

The GM hotwires (from Ken) are red as well!

I installed them 3 weeks ago.. Honestly, they look just like the stock wires, except red! The Taylors are much thicker and seem to be the favorites among the racing guys.

IMHO: Unless you race your car VERY hard, not a lot of difference among the various options.

Good luck,

One of the advantages of the coil near plug setup is the short lead length. High tech solutions for longer runs are overkill IMHO.

KID, you are just right on the money, indeed. I think, there are many excellent and worthy products on the C-market - all with their individual advantages/disadvantages, but I decided, after indepth evaluation, to have those THUNDERVOLTs as well due to same arguments you mentioned in your reply.

As they are .409" thickness (plus reinforced inner core, 100% silicone jackets, spiro-wound wire technology), they handle and sit real solid, look real great in the engine compartement and helped for sure to further assist idle smooth-out. Now, amongst the BERU SILVERSTONEs (gapped to .035), they represent a great technical solution (and I hope this goes also for excellent sparkpower supply - however, I will proceed for a checkout soon by the assistance of oscilloscope).

Joe.

Just bought MSD's yesterday, part # on the box is: 32819

I was going to get the Magnecor's until I read about the plug boot issue.
