The 9700 is a "road-force balancer" and gives readouts of wheel and tire problems. The 3500 utilizes plasitc roller wheels that will NOT mar or damage wheel finishes.
These machines are the mainstay of High End (read high-dollar) wheel and accessories shops.
Think the OP is looking for a tire mounting machine. I don't know what my shop uses....I'm pretty sure they said it was made in Italy though. It handles low-profile tires with ease, and having watched/helped with the process, it would take an idiot to scratch or damage a wheel with that machine.
He is not talking about the face of the wheel.
Don't all machines have hydraulic arms that expand out against the inside of the barrel to hold the wheel in place while they mount or dismount the tire?
He is asking if there are any that do not leave dimples or mark inside the wheel. It would seem like the arms have to be a little rough or they would not be able to get a grip on the wheel. IF the wheel moves while you are pulling on the tire bead, THEN you also have a problem with the upper arm getting into the face of the wheel.
I am not sure of the name of the machine ? Chorgi or Korgi or something like that. Basically it is a rim clamp machine. It will clamp inside the wheel and leave dimples, or you can expand the clamps and set the wheel inside and clamp from the outside of the wheel. That is the machine I always used in the Tire business but that was over 10 years ago........Don't know what's out there these days, has to have improved with so many fancy wheels on the market......Good luck.
