Default Does anybody know the answer?

Hi, I have a C5 and I need to know if my stock 2:73 diff will work in a C6? I know it's a strange question but I really need the answer. Thanks for your help...

It will not work without modifications. I know some C5 guys are running the C6 rears. The rear cradle has to be swapped out for one. Maybe do a search for one of those posts and your answer would be the reverse! What are you up too?

I upgraded my 2:73's in my C5 to 3:42's and someone I know with a C6 wants to know if my 2:73's will fit in his C6 for whatever reason.

Default Gears Only?

I think the gears are the same. The diff housings are different and will not just swap between C5's and C6's. You have to change some other stuff as well - as already mentioned the rear cradle is one of them and I'm not sure what else but there's likely some other parts. This is a good swap for a C5 but would be a backwards conversion for a C6.

The mounting is completely different, but hey, anything is possible. For the life of me I can't understand anyone wanting to put the C-5 diff in a C-6.

An A6 with the 2.56 rear would make the 2.73 a nice upgrade. In fact, I think it's the factory rear-end upgrade.

I can understand the desire to use an in between ratio, what I can't understand is putting in a much weaker differential not to mention the inferior mounting of the C5 compared to C6.

Yeah, I was just speculating why someone would want the "much despised" 2.73 gear ratio. I'm pretty sure with all the talk about how similar the C5 and C6 are, the original poster didn't realize the rear ends had different mounting methods built into the diff case.

How do the new gears feel Kenny? I take it everything arrive in good order?
