not sure about Kooks specifically, but LS1howto.com does a great write up on LG Lt installation. With my lg streets the Pass side went in / or out from the top. The driver's side from the bottom. Good luck.

If they are the earlier Kooks you need to jack up the motor a bit to get them off.

You have to take the engine mounts loose and place a jack with a board between the jack and the engine and raise it off the engine cradle a few inches to allow enough clearance for the headers to slide clear. Normally the left side (drivers side) can be pulled down below the vehicle and the right side up and out the top.

Be careful!!

Yeah Sick, I second the Be Careful part. It sounds like you need to study up on procedure before you go further. The Headers install done in your garage takes some planning and strategy to get done. Not saying it's overly difficult, just need to understand what needs to be removed and what can stay. If Passenger side header is coming out going up, then you need to disconect the AIR tube, remove the coil packs, removed the valve cover, and most likey belt tensioner and then you can remove it nice and slow.

If the Driver's side goes out the bottom, then the car needs to be at least 22 or so inches high (if not higher) in the air. This is pretty high and safety can be a concern if you are not careful. Sounds like from Kooks guys thus far the motor has to be jacked up just a tad to get some clearance.

Have you read the header install on LS1howto.com yet? Seriously, check that out and it will help you see what you need to do. Oh, and you'll need a hydraulic jack to raise the car up high enough off the ramps to run the header out the bottom.

I had the Kooks first generation headers in bro's car. Whoever installed them did a hack job and then welded all of the pipes together including the mid-pipes, what a bunch of azzhats.

Took forever with a cut-off tool and saw to get them out.

In general you should disconnect the battery, steering, ground cables, FRC covers, coil packs, spark plugs & wires and starter. In some cases the valve covers.

With the kooks you might have to remove oil filter too along with water temp connection and oil level connector.

We also remover the 18mm nuts on the front cross member and used a 2 x 4 to roll the engine from one side to the other.

Steering shaft is on drivers side. 13 mm bolt. lock the steering wheel and mark the shafts. Make sure you don't spin anything. Look below the alternator.

This has bad stuff written all over it. Based on the questions you are asking, I suggest you get some help. Perhaps a local forum member with some experience can assist you.
