I have a 2000 MN6 C5. I went to start it the other day and got the "Pull Key, wait 10 seconds" I did and then got the "Service Column Lock" Error. When I try to drive it, it shuts off above 2 mph. I was under the impression that 2000 and older vettes did not shut off at 2 mph and you could still drive the car. When I start the car I can turn the wheels fully but when the car is off I can only turn them a little, but it will still move the wheels, just not very far. If the car has had the recall done do they program this feature into older modles? And wouldn't I still be able to move the wheels fully due to the pin being removed? I also though if the recall was done that I would have a relay plugged into my BCM. I have no such thing. I do not know if the car has a CLB on it as I have not taken the dash apart yet. Any insight?
with power steering off it is really tough to move the wheels much while sitting still. you can move them a little which shows the column lock is not set. as far as fuel goes,i believe your fuel shutoff is due to the pull key issue. put in a clb when you do not have a message and you should be good to go. remove the k harness as well if had that dealer mod done. the clb's come with excellent instructions and is not very hard to do.
if the CL got set off, get a CLB but you still need to have a dealer perform the Service Bulletin/recall on the car, after you take home, put the CLB on for sure!
I have a 2000 MN6 with a CLB and had the engine shut off when I put the shifter in Rev or First, two times. In both instances I had let the key get a little wet. I feel this messed up the resistance reading of the pellet, confusing the computer so it wouldn't let the car drive off. I wiped the key down, blew on it a little, waited a minute, inserted the key, started the engine, and drove off. Now, I am very careful about keeping the key out of the rain and my hands dry when I start up.

It was like it was hitting a stop. I know the wheels are harder to move but it was meeting some kind of resistance other than just not having the assistance of the pump. I know I have to install the CLB when the error isn't present but I can't get the error to go away. Also the K harness plugs into the BCM corect? Well I do not have one plugged into mine. Also I thought that 2000's and older with the service bullitin NOT performed would still let you drive the car over 2mph it was only the 01 and up that would shut fuel off. Once the bulletin was performed they added the 2mph fuel shut off, well if I had the bulletin performed then why don't I have the K harness but still have the 2 mph shut off? How do I get the error to go away so I can install the CLB. I tried everything in the sticky.
Also don't you have to pay for the bulletin now? It is no longer free anymore.
you should be able to give your dealer the vin and they can tell you what fixes have been performed. mine did not have a k harness but i think it connects between the column lock plug and the connection to the bcm. not sure though but i am sure someone will read this, have a heart attack and respond correctly
nobody has mentioned the battery yet. make sure it is fully charged and the connections are tight. next, disconnect the battery and leave it for 20 min. (would be a good time to charge) and then reconnect. sometimes this resets the system and the problem will go away long enough to get the clb installed. also, have you cleared the codes on the dic? you should probably do so. otherwise, it is more reading and trying. by the way, reading 100 pages does not mean you can understand what you have read so give it your best shot and then let the forum know what is happening, someone usually will jump in to help. i know, i am almost mechanically illiterate except for the help i get on this form!
by the way, you only have to take the knee section of the dash off to check for and install a clb. only a few screws.
