Default C5 performance increase questions

I want to increase the performance of my C5. I was wondering what kind of HP increases people have seen with Upgraded intakes and performance tuners. What can i expect, just tell me what brand you used and what you got out of it. I have an 02 stock c5. Thx.

Desire and money will dictate how far you go in the horsepower
race.It can be as low as 20rwhp or a 1000 plus. Do alot of research
and make up your own mind what you want to accomplish. It
can be alot of fun or a total waste of money and time.
I started at 284rwhp and right now I'm at 525rwhp. I am still
having fun!!!!!Good luck.

actually quite a bit. The air intake and tune are two of the most importnt up grades a person can do.

with those two alone, you could see up to 330-350 rwhp on 93 octane, if the tuner knows his stuff.

now adding anything else wont help much more. LTs, and good exhaust may ad a bit.

The tune is the KEY to getting more hp

AU

I think the OP is referring to purchasing a handheld tuner. If so, I don't THINK you will be able to get a lot out of it.
TAKING it to get a tune, on the other hand, can get you some good performance increases.

A stock C-5. My experience-stock-284rwhp after ARH, blackwing
and full dyno tune 325 rwhp. I would of killed for 350 rwhp.
I guess sometimes you find a odd ball. Lucky you!!!!!

The biggest Gain from a tune is getting rid of torque management system and air to fuel ratio adjustment.
The C5's are pigs stock.
They run very rich to avoid detonation within the engine
A little more spark does wonders.

I agree, I wouldnt buy a handheld tuner. Go and get the car tuned professionally to get the best results.

I would recommend installing a true cold air intake such as a vararam and finding a professional tuner. For just an intake, a street tune would suffice and the cost should be much less than $400 for a street tune. The tuner will plug a laptop into your port and change a few parameters. Just reducing or eliminating torque management will give you a decent boost. As stated previously, I personally would not recommend a predator or other such hand held tuner. Just my .02.

Vararam and Callaway make the best true cold air intakes. I got my Callaway honker for 450...huge difference in throttle response and sound. A tune is great...just got to find the right tuner. If they tune rice; get the hell outta there-FAST!! Stick to LS engine gurus.

But the Predator does give full control of the Torque Management. Also comes with a custom tune for the engine it is for. So a stock car can install the tune in it and get good results with no other changes. Can see real time data and log data. The diablosport company will even write a custom tune for free if you do major mods. They are proven to improve HP.

There is not much else you can get for HP and proformance gains for the price than a Predator. And you can adjust it yourself instead of bringing the car in for another $500 dyno tune. (Recognizing dyno tune is probably the gold standard because you can tune as you actually drive the car and check data, and the tuner is usually a bright guy.)

So put on a LS6 manifold for $500 and 5 HP or a Predator for $369 and 15-25 HP. Also great gains in feel of the drive with an A4 especially due to shift changes. Some one said "It isn't the horse power as much as what you do with it." (I think Chuck CoW said that??)

AND the new models of Predator are not locked to the car as long as you put your stock tune back first so you can re-sell it for $200 easily.

Not sure about any other hand held as I just have experience with the Predator. They may be fine too.
