What is better for an everyday driver? Can you feel the power of the Vararam driving down city roads or do you need to open her up in order to feel anything?
You can open up the area on the shroud under the halltech and it will do almost the same thing.
Halltach is an easy install V ram is tougher.
Cut a window in your shroud and you will never see it once you install any CAI and you have RAM AIR
Halltech is not a true cold air intake. As stated, if you open up the fan shroud and put a shroud around it you will pull in air from outside the hot engine compartment. This would be the equivalent of a Callaway Honker. There is another intake, I believe it is called the Vortex Rammer that does this. The vararam works well but takes 3 or 4 hours to install, at least it did me.
It would not expose the engine compartment if done right.
So nice try.
It would open area that forces Air up to radiator area.
FACT Hottest AIR COMES FROM the Assault so where do you get COLD AIR FROM?
Does you guys have pics or links to this setup? I have the Tunnel Port, so that's where I get my cold air from. Is the setup your talking about better or equivlent?
Before: We no longer make the TRAP intake shown here, since our SuperFlow Bench results showed that the Venom was 27% less restrictive than the TRAP. The Tunnel Port opening shown here, however, brings maximum cold airflow into the intake area, without the risk of hydrolock associated with bottom breathers. We took our TRIC off the market 9 years ago due to this concern, and never looked back. Cold air is vital to keeping timing at the factory max.

Get the Halltech or add another 100 bucks and get the callaway honker which is literally a bad boy. Dont get Vararam it performs very good, but quaity and install part is a biatch.
In case u end up with halltech and want to get to rid of in future u can always trade with my Vararam B2 which now has roughly 2k miles on it.
Now to ur question: No u cannot feel sotp feel with Vararam in street as it has longer runners, wheras Halltech and callaway u can feel instantly as they have very short runners. Vara is good for track tho.

It is difficult to understand what you are saying as the statement is not well written. I agree with your original statement that opening up the shroud would be approaching a true cold air filter. Putting a cold air box around the filter and shroud is a better solution and this is what the Honker and the Vortex Rammer do. I've seen pics where some folks take off the airbox lid, cut a hole in the shroud and then flip the remaining airbox over and seal it against the hole in the shroud which is effectively a honker type setup for cheap.

I agree with this statement. The Callaway is very nice and much easier to install. Plus the Honker relocates the MAF to a location which many folks consider to be advantageous. I installed the vararam anyhow and it was a bit of a biatch.

I'm not sure what you're getting at here. This is Jersey Jay's car, which he just sold BTW. The intake for your Halltech intake is essentially at the same level as a Vararam on the front bumper. However, the Vararam sucks the cold air through the ducts where the screens are located and it then goes directly to the throttle body. Hydroloc has never been proven to be an issue with Vararams as far as I know, and in my experience with one for several years, in some heavy rain, I have never had a problem.
Quick question for you Halltech or anyone else who has a Venom. Is the Venom supposed to fit comfortably inside the engine bay or is supposed to be a real real tight fit? Because I just installed mine and I had a hard time making everything fit.
I would assume it is somewhat similar to my Stinger in that making the assembly fit as far as hood clearance is concerned is a matter of playing a bit with rotational orientation and insertion depth of the connecting components, including clamp hardware. Take a look at everything from the side with the highest components at eye level. Loosen the clamps and move things around; you'll get it right.
