Default Cooling help!

Hey guys I replaced my radiator awhile ago, and just noticed that when I let the car sit running it will get up to 232 degrees and the fan's wont kick on unless I turn on the AC. I can do the "Ranger mod" and connect a wire to jump the relay circuit and they turn on fine, what could be the problem? Also I rarely use the heat in florida, but noticed the other night that sometimes it doesn't blow any hot air. Thanks for the help guys!

I agree. after running it, let it cool and recheck the level

I think I'm just going to change the antifreeze again pretty soon. What would cause the fans to not kick on though?

It's normal for the fans on a stock PCM to not come on until the coolant temp is 225 (or so) low-speed and 235 (or so) high-speed. No harm in that. That's the way it's designed.

It's only when you are concerned about max acceleration, such as at the drag strip, where you want the coolant temp to remain at or below 195. That's why I set out the "fan trick."

But for street driving, the stock system works fine and there's no harm at all for the temp to rise to 230 or so in traffic. It's normal.

My C4 runs the same as my C5. While the mod shown will work, a switch installed in the circuit would be a lot handier. I am from the old school and like to see a constant temp around 200. I installed a switch in my C4. It was nice to have in stop and go traffic. Later! Frank

Thanks for the feedback ranger, your fan trick works well!
My fans don't kick on whatsoever, and when the temps get up to like 235 you can smell the antifreeze for some reason.

I'm not sure i completely understand the diagram, how can I check to know which relay is bad? If I replace all three and it still doesn't work, what could it be? The fans come on with the AC, or the fan trick otherwise nothing...

Hey sickvett, when you turn the ac on, are you sure both fans are on, or just one? At no time should only one fan run by itself, always none, two at low speed, or two at high speed.

both fans come on at once which I don't understand... I never had this problem until I replaced the radiator. Even without cooling fans though, it doesn't run over 232 if i let it sit.
