Anyone else have any ideas other than the ignition switch?
For the types of problems you are having do a search on forum member Bill Curlee. Bill has a number of great write ups that cover issues like yours. Here is one of his write up. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...tml?forum_id=1
Got the 1226 or 1227 -can't remember which, when backing the car slowly and turning the wheels hard at the same time. The tire was pinching the sensor wire that runs from the wheel hub against the lower control arm and eroded some of the plastic casing that exposed the wires and shorted the system giving the code - the closest thing the computer could figure what was happening. I bet the code is related to something physical going on with the sensor cable out to the wheel. Fiddle with it or change it with the sensor cable on the other side and see if the problem "travels" with the wire.
One last thing ---electrical systems on the C5 will drive you nuts. I actually know several codes by heart!!

1. C1226 Excessive Wheel Speed Variation this happens when you hit rough pavement, bump, or rough seam in the road. - I would check to make sure the connectors to each wheel speed sensor are clean and tight. They are easy to find - they are the only electrical connections to each wheel
2. Windshield Wipers don't want to work until you smack your fist on the steering wheel and then they only want to work on momentary and high. May need a new switch
3. Hazard Lights don't work..but blinker, day time running lamps, ect. work. - May need to either bypass the hazzard switch or replace it
4. EVAP system not ready....no codes.
5. HVAC actuator fails....blows out all the vents. - There is a proceedure to reindex the actuators - are you getting codes for this? If you od need reindex here's a writeup -http://vette.tnreeds.com/actuator/actuator.htm
Do all of these have a common denominator somewhere? Is this gods way of trying to take the joy out of my car? Not that I can see - I think it is just possessed
Check Battery and Alternator. If Voltage is low, strange things can happen. Most electronics has a voltage regulator to keep them working at need voltage even when supply voltage dips, but Motors and other " power items" can be impacted. Long shot, but easy check.
