what breaks is the left shaft that is located inside the Diff. It is 1" dia and 6" long. You will shear this piece right in half when it is broken... When I broke mine... the dealership said they have never seen anyone do this before!! :nono:
Thanks for the replies. Turns out it was a half-shaft after all! Should have the car back Friday. :D

Well, after calling to say it was a half-shaft, the dealer called back this morning to inform me it indeed was the output shaft. :mad
I'm just having them drop the rear, Speedworks will install BPP's shaft and the dealer will re-install the gears. So the $2100 project is now up to $3K  :nonod:
Damn...I thought it was a half shaft for sure since the car would move a little under it's own power.
When I broke my output shaft it threw a bunch of fragments inside the diff. so you need to have it rebuilt. Is the dealer gonna replace or rebuild the tranny?

It wasn't the tranny output shaft. It's the output shaft that connects to the half-shaft (out the side of the carrier.)
Gotcha...that is much better. I know the car is down but at least you don't have to pull the tranny. Good luck with the repairs. I'm looking forward to your results.
Re: Hard launch - something broke :( (ToplessTexan)
It's complicated. ;) I did speak to Ernie @ BPP, though, and he said he would charge about $175. Of course, I'd have to send him the unit. I was just curious.
