Default Pull key wait......

10 seconds. Well I got that message today and my car keeps cutting off.
This has never happened, but today the battery went low as I was working on the car.
I had had the column lock alarm whe my battery went dead over the winter but that cleared up.

Does the battery going low cause the wait 10 seconds crap.

I did a search and nothing came up with a low battery.

The first thing to do is make sure the battery is fully charged. A lot of problems can show up when a battery is weak.
If charging the battery does not correct the column lock and fuel shutoff problem, you may need to check to see what recalls have been done on your car.

Does your car shut off when you try to drive it, or will it not idle at all?

As soon as you pull the car forward it will stall, then start right up to stall again. I cleaned both keys with alcohol and the steering wheel turns when the key is locked so it must have had the recall.

Good LUCK!
I had the CLB installed on my car, and still eneded up where you are now.

Car was taken to a DEALER, and they tried all the GM fixes.. NONE of which worked!!!

I have HP Tuner..
So i eneded up going to the Dearlers shop and flashing the PCM to change the Fuel Cutoff.
It drives now, but, I still get the 10 sec message, unless i cycle the ignition switch 3 times. Then I just get the service column lock message. At least that can be turned off till the next start up..

I charged the battery last night and left it disconnected. I went out this morning to check it and I connected the battery. I went to start the car and got the 10 second crap. I started and shut the car 3 times and then let it run for a second then pulled it out of the garage. No fuel cutoff. But I stil have the column alarm up. I cleared it once before when I had the column alarm up months ago, now if I can remember how I did it.

I am still going to order the bypass.

Well that was a short lived fix. Just happened again.

I located the K harness and removed it. I then went to move the car and it died with the fuel cutoff.

Find someone with HP Tuner or EFI live. Have them change the fuel shut off from 2mph to 200mph. At least you can drive it then. I'm in the same boat as you. Pretty damn annoying.

When you removed the Harness K relay, did you reconnect the actuator to the main wiring harness? You need to have either a bypass relay or the actuator connected to keep the BCM from cutting fuel.

If the actuator is connected, can you hear it cycle when you turn the key, or is it stuck?

I took the k harness out and then just put the 2 plugs it was connected to together. Where is the actuator located.

Ididn't hear anything cycle,I listened for it.

The actuator is in the aluminum housing to the right of the steering column post, behind the lockplate. You can see it in post #20, about 4 pictures down.

If you cannot hear it cycle, then it is toast.

Checked all the fuses, my car didn't have 2 of them. Checked battery volts...12.25 volts. Did everything that was suggested. Also ordered the CLB.

I get this damn message/cut off all the time and have learned to live with it. I also have installed the CLB.

Here's what I do:

  1. Insert the key into the ignition
  2. Turn the key to power up the lights on the dash, but not crank the starter. I believe this is the ACC.
  3. Wait a few seconds for the amber "Security" light to go out
  4. Turn the key further to crank the engine
This works for me.

It's amazing that this happened because my battery voltage went low.

IF still need a CLB -- we have plenty in stock. Give me a call direct and we will gladly send out today. Tell us what we can do to help get your Vette back on the road.
