I don't think it makes any difference whether you use the threaded or non threaded style but if I had it to do over I would go with the C6 upper handle because it is offset to the rear a bit giving a better position.

You can also buy the C5 shaft (threaded) offset the same way...
sure I will post a nice review after 2 weeks of driving it.
For what it is worth this is my thoughts on the 2008 ZO6 shifter after installing it in my 2000 coupe. Look forward to seeing reviews from other folks. Shifter Review

I have driven an 09 Z06, and I most certainly liked the feel of the stock shifter much better than my 03 C5Z. Definately something to think about...I already have the MGW ****, so I could pick up the C6Z shifter for about a $100 less than the MGW. Now I'm second guessing what I want.
MGW is LIGHT years ahead of a stock GM z shifter even if its from a zr1 LOL...
Look at the build and parts how can you compare? Theres a reason for the price difference.

I find this interesting and would like to here what features the MGW has that makes it "LIGHT years" better, other then it cost more. Please give us the details.

Like I said in my post.. look at both. Look at the parts used and quality of build. Use both, drive with a MGW shifter than a stock 09z, zr1, watever shifter and tell me which one is better?
Instead of making comments that serve no purpose go check it out and come back on here with your review.
A guy asks about a MGW shifter. Now its turning into a Z06 shifter debate. I would say post your comments about what brand you like and why and leave it at that. When it turns into an argument the post is useless.
As for the MGW, I have about 5K on the new style with the C6 handle and their shift ****. It's still tight (but not new tight), shifts are precise and still like the 1" offset. It keeps my arm in a comfortable position. I also like the way I can almost shift with just my wrist.
