Default Abs/Traction Control

2001 vert 48,000 miles. I took the car to the dealership because it was showing service ABS and Traction control. They ran the codes on the Tech II. The code came up as C1233 which is the right front wheel speed sensor, they said this was not the problem and the ECBM needed to be replaced. The tech said the he checked the sensor on the right fornt wheel and it did not show to be open. could this be a misdiagnosis? I dont mind buying whatever the car needs, I just hate but the wrong part and still have the problem. Any help would be appreciated. The car is not driven more than 1 or 2 times a month.

DEALERSHIP- We checked out your car and it needs $2454.12 worth of parts. Were not sure if that will fix it but, thats what it needs. Will that be check, cash, credit or your next unborn child??????

Owner - FORUM,,,HELP!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!

FORUM- , Hey man,,,,all you need to do is fix a connector!

Owner

Been in that EXACT scenario!!!!!

Seriously,,, nine times out of ten, all thats wrong is usually a bad connection. I use a spare metal male pin to test EACH female pin and make SURE that there the proper connection on the male pin.

I have NEVER seen a wheel speed sensor go bad. The dealer always wants to replace them (that includes the ENTIRE wheel bearing assy and sensor)

I have seen EBTCM go bad but, I ALWAYS try to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that its the issue before spending lots of money for a new EBTCM.
