Default Fuel Injector cleaner

Doesn't anybody have any help or suggestions for me?

I have recently purchased a 2002 vette convt.
It seems to run great, but sitting at a stop light the car (engine) shakes. Do I have injector problems and would using a fuel injector cleaner be OK as I have heard that the LS1 engine is tempermental and that using cleaners is not recommended.
It had not been driven for over a year. It has 17,000 miles on it. I filled it up with 93 octane, changed the oil, replaced the air filter assem. with a BBK Cold Air intake, replaced the pcv valve hoping that maybe it was bad (old) gas and dirty filters. It seems a bit better (less shaking) but still there. Should I treat my next tank with cleaner? or go get the fuel injector(s) serviced? Also is it possible the plug(s) might be fouled? and just a tune up can solve this?

Default Techron

Put in a container of Techron the next two times you fuel-up and I'd bet your problems will disappear. Also, Tier 1 gasolines like Chevron, Shell etc. each use slightly different additives. I have been told by a petroleum engineer that changing brands every 5,000 miles or so can also help to clean things better than staying with one brand.

True that. Use Techron at oil change time and burn Shell premium.

Techtron and maybe replace your plugs. Some of the plugs will loose the little platinum puck on the end if it which will increase your gap significantly.

I replaced mine at 29K and some were out of gap but all of them had the platinum tips untacked. Its also a good time to replace the wires since you will most likely ruin one or two in the removal.

I know 17K is not many miles but the wires are 7 years old and I feel like this help smooth mine out a bit. With that said I think you will notice some minor shaking no matter what you do but at least you will know your plugs are not the culprit.

Do a search on Seafoam treatment, use it to soak the carbon on piston tops and the injection system. I advise that you change your oil after soaking the motor internals.

Did the Techron, changed the plugs (they were balck and oily) New wires. Same problem maybe a little bit better, but still there.

What about pulling codes and checking on sensors?

Techron not the same thing as Seafoam when used to clean out the top end of the motor as it's sucked through a vacuum port.

With a warm engine: Using the PVC hose, place a smaller 1/4' vacuum hose inside and feed it back a ways so that it will kinda seal up. Now with the engine running, slowly dip the hose into the Seafoam can until the idle starts to dip. Do about half the can this way. May be easier with someone on the throttle.

With the remaining liquid, dip the hose into the can all the way until it stalls. Let the car sit for 20 - 30 minutes, or even overnight. When re-starting the car, rev the motor up a watch the cloud of smoke fill your street, then take the car out for a quick run and blow the rest of the junk out the exhaust.

If you do the full stall/soak routine, I suggest changing the oil and filter.

Have fun.

Checking the codes would be a big plus in starting the check down process on your trouble. It might even be a fuel filter that is going bad. There are things in your fuel tank that if you run the tank dry before you refill that could be sucked up into the filter. If it is engine related a code should show up and give you a lead to the problem.
