Default how to replace hard boot pistons

I have order 2 new hard boot pistons for my 2000 vert. The boot is sagging.

Has anyone replaced these?
Is it hard?
What tools do I need?
How do you access it from the trunk side or the boot side? I cannot even see them in the car so I am guessing they are under plastic etc.

When i go to the dlr to get the new ones Ill have them give me an exploded parts list to see if that helps.

If you are going to be doing your own work, why not pick up a service manual? Then you'll be answering the questions instead of asking them....

Ok, so "hard boot piston" is what the part is called? What is the part number?

It's the small strut that holds the top up I think he's referring to. I'll have to look at my vert but if it's like the hood pistons, there is a clip that covers the ends you pop off the get to where they attach.

Maybe a little confusing, but from the service manual:

Folding Top Stowage Compartment Lid Struts Replace
Removal Procedure

Open the folding top stowage compartment.

Remove the forward end of the strut from the hinge ball stud.
Close the folding top stowage compartment lid.

Open the rear stowage compartment lid.
Remove the strut from the rear ball stud.
Installation Procedure

Open the rear stowage compartment lid.

Position the rod end of the strut through the access hole between the quarter panel and the support.
Install the strut to the rear ball stud.
Close the rear stowage compartment.

Open the folding top stowage compartment.
Install the rod end of the strut to the front of the hinge.
Close the folding top stowage compartment.

I notice most of your posts have a antagonist edge to them.....Why?

This question is in the correct forum and an excellent question.
This is an interactive forum and Q+A like the OP asked in his original post is the very reason the forum is here, and what makes it great.

I, and probably others, saw no antagonism in the post...and I agree with his statement. (and his ) ,I gave myself that same advise when I bought my vette. This is all positive.

May be i took the poster a little hard on that comment but I just needed an answer not a buy a manual post. its all good.

I hope to have the new pistons tomorrow and install over the weekend.

TUF-NUF, I AGREE, Lucky sure gives some good info in helping out the forum members. Sure, sometimes his comments could be taken out of context, but it is always in a joking manner. Sometimes it is very funny. I like to read all his post because it's either good info, or good for a laugh of the day. I consider him an asset.
